Ever wondered how a Bricker Builds model goes from an idea to a finished product? Our design process is a mix of creativity, problem-solving, and engineering, ensuring that every model provides an exciting and accessible building experience.
Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how our team brings these incredible LEGO® brick sculptures to life:
Concept and Planning
Every great build starts with a vision! Our design team collaborates to determine the best scale, color palette, and overall design approach for a model.
The goal is to create something that has an incredible wow factor, is fun to build, and remains as affordable as possible.
Passion-Driven Design
Once the concept is set, one of our designers takes ownership of the project as their passion project and begins crafting a draft design. This stage is all about creativity and problem-solving, as we work through how to best translate the subject into LEGO bricks.
Overcoming Design Challenges
Not all LEGO® pieces come in every color, and some shapes are tricky to replicate. As a team, we collaborate to tackle challenges like:
✔ Finding the best brick combinations to capture complex details
✔ Working around color availability
✔ Ensuring the design is structurally sound and fun to build
Team Review & Refinement
Once the draft design is complete, our team reviews it together, offering feedback and suggestions to refine the model. We go through multiple rounds of revisions, making adjustments until we’re confident that we have the best possible version of the build.
We also invite our community on Discord to provide input via our #focus-group channel, where your insights help us improve our designs even further!
Preparing for Production
Once the design is finalized, our production team steps in to order the necessary LEGO® bricks for a test build and, while waiting for those pieces to arrive, organizes the model into step-by-step building instructions that are clear, simple, and enjoyable.
Building and Play Testing
With parts in hand, the production team assembles the test build while refining the building experience. Once built, we put the model through rigorous play testing—checking durability, testing moving features, and making sure it’s as fun to interact with as it is to build.
Finalizing the Instructions & Packaging
When we’re satisfied with the design and playability, we finalize the instruction manual to be easy to follow and intuitive for builders of all experience levels. Once the manual is complete, the model is sorted into numbered bags, packed up, and ready for production!
This process ensures that each model we create is visually stunning, structurally solid, and an amazing building experience from start to finish. Whether it’s a life-sized character bust, a movie-inspired collectible, or a custom commission, we take pride in every step that brings these incredible builds to your hands.
