back to the beginning 2024
In December of 2024, we had you vote for a life-sized model we would make in 2025! We asked and you voted Wall•E to be Bricker Builds Next Top Model. Our design team began working on how to bring this character to life in LEGO® bricks but we had no idea how difficult it would be...
Early Challenge
He is a lot bigger than we thought
Once we began the design, we learned that he is over 2.5 ft tall, 3 ft wide, and 3 ft deep... the challenge wasn't only designing something that looked good, but the 55lb sculpture had to be held up by brick-built treads because we were DETERMINED to make the build possible without glue or metal framework.
We split up the character into 4 sections -- each led by one of our designers
Continuing to refine
This model went through so many rounds of edits and test building because we wanted him to be perfect. Here is what that process looked like for the eyes & treads
SCRAP•E
is born
is born
From January to June of this year, we would order sections of this massive robot to assemble and play with. The moment of truth was seeing if the brick-built treads could hold up the weight of the box, head, and arms... and IT DID!!
He came to life
